Rental Rates

Motor Pool vehicles are available to Claflin University faculty, staff, and students for use on official University travel billed to departmental or student organization accounts. All student drivers require additional departmental and /or Student Activities approval. Approval forms are available at the Motor Pool office, or can be printed from the Motor Pool website.

RESERVATIONS: Daily rental reservations may be requested by calling 803 535 5496 or 803 535 5093, or completing a reservation form on the Motor Pool website.

LATE RETURNS OR CANCELLATIONS: If a late return is anticipated, contact the Motor Pool immediately (803 535 5496 or 803 535 5493). A late penalty of one additional day charge will be accessed if prior notice of a late return is not given. Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance. Vehicle charges are computed from the time a vehicle is picked up to the time it is returned. The rental day begins and ends at midnight.

OFFICE & Auxiliary Services HOURS: The Motor Pool office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Vehicles may be released 24 hours per day. Keys may be picked up in advance of the vehicle if the travel is scheduled to begin at a time Motor Pool personnel are not available.

LESS THAN FOUR HOURS USE: Use of a vehicle for less than four hours and less than 50 miles, the minimum charge will apply.

SEAT BELT USE: Claflin University policy requires the use of passenger restraints in all vehicles in which they are provided. Vehicles are also equipped with passenger, driver, and side air bags, but these are NOT substitutes for lap and shoulder belts. Be SAFE … BUCKLE UP!

SMOKING IN VEHICLES: Drivers and passengers are prohibited from smoking in Claflin University vehicles. Violations may be additional clean up charges by the Motor Pool.
